Stella Morgan is what happens when old money, a PhD in French literature, and an entrepreneurial streak all land in the same person.
She grew up wealthy, went to LSU, got a doctorate she's never used professionally, and somewhere along the way decided that what Baton Rouge really needed was a premium French maid service. So she started Les Servantes with her sorority sister Paula — who had, it turned out, actually been a French maid in Paris and knew more about the subject than anyone had a right to. Stella provides the management, such as it is, and the hustle. Paula provides the expertise and the chaos.
Stella also has Millie, her Factory Girl, who is her personal assistant and, by all accounts, her entire life. She treats Millie the way some people treat a very beloved and slightly bewildering best friend, which tells you most of what you need to know about Stella.
She came into my world because she needed Factory Girls for Les Servantes and I needed a way to pay for Amber's new body, and we worked out an arrangement that solved both problems simultaneously. She was generous to Amber during that stretch, which counts for something. She's also now dating Keegan, which I did not see coming and have made a conscious decision not to examine too closely.
Stella means well. In my experience that's rarer than it sounds.
